Look Deep Into My Eye...

You want to go to the State Fair...
Ha ha.  A hypnotic ferris wheel photo.  I never know how these are going to turn out.

Well, my time living here in California is almost done.  We've had movers at our house this week, and by next week I'll be on the move back to the Pacific Northwest.  It's been a chaotic summer here, and hardly any time to photograph and post.  I'm looking forward to things settling down for a little while in August so I can get out with my camera again!  Until then, I will post as I can, and get back to following blogs in the next week or two.

Zinnia Patch

What a gem of a place out in Yolo!  The Mezger Zinnia Patch is a two acre field of zinnias, free for  the picking.  With just one stipulation:  However many flowers you pick for yourself, you pick an equal number to give to someone who isn't able to pick them.  Mr. Mezger's cause is bringing joy to retirement communities.  It's such a beautiful field of flowers, and a really heart-warming cause.  The patch is open from sunrise to sunset, and the flowers will be blooming throughout the summer.  To get here, take I-5 north from Sacramento, and exit to the right at Yolo.  Take Old 99 north about two miles.  Just before you get to the Mezger grain elevator, the patch will be on your left.  And if you are in the Sacramento area, and you don't know where to deliver your flowers, I would recommend Emerald Garden Nursing Center.  It's a state nursing center located at 6821 24th St.

At the Bowling Alley

Vending machines reflected in the mirrored ceiling decor at the UC Davis bowling alley earlier today.  I liked the stained glass effect created by the mirror panels.   I wish we discovered this bowling alley before we were getting ready to move, but we're making up for lost time. Today was our second time bowling this week.  It's a welcome break from all the pre-move work going on in the garage!

Hole in the Wall

Literally, not figuratively.  This wall is part of a cute little restaurant near the Co-op.  It's housed in one of those 60s construction buildings, so the little hole drains water off the flat roof, if it ever rains around here.
