The Sandhill Cranes at Sunset.  This is such an amazing sight!
I've been wanting to get back here for two months now, and today was my first chance.
Thousands of cranes were flying around, making their eerie calls, but these four came closest and gave a nice silhoutte.  Mt. Diablo is in the background.

November 11

We took a family trip to Lodi today to see the Sandhill Cranes come in at sunset.  It's pretty to watch.  And hear!  I didn't know they made such a nice cooing sound, sort of like geese but much softer.  I just wish we'd gone on a less overcast day because it was such a dreary sunset and not good lighting!  f/2. at 1/800, ISO400, 200mm.
