Winter Palette

Nature never hurries, yet everything is accomplished. ~Lao Tzu
This quote showed up on my herbal tea tag this week and it seemed like a good reminder for me,
as I was rushing around finishing up Christmas gifts.
Today (even though I was hurrying), I finally got all the gifts in the mail!
And one frosty morning earlier this week, we almost had a beautiful sunrise.
The sky had a little band of pink, nothing fabulous,
but it reflected nicely in Salmon Creek.

Multnomah in Winter

A very frosty view of Multnomah Falls.
So far this winter we've either had rain or cold.
 For today's scene: cold!

Starting Out Cold

I'm getting used to seeing this frost each morning.  We're in a pretty nice weather pattern right now.  Morning starts out cold and clear, blanketed in frost, and the rest of the day is sunny and pretty mild for late November.  Nothing like the weather reports I'm seeing on TV for the rest of the country. I wasn't out that early this morning; this is just a patch of ground cover in a parking lot near Anna's school.  It was still in the shade around 10am or so, and the frost was softening up but hadn't completely melted yet.  It was a contrasty scene, so I figured I'd try it in black and white.

Winter Teasel

Such a sparkly frost outside of Eugene, Oregon on Saturday.  I'm hoping to head out with my camera tomorrow, but for today I have a lot to catch up on, so I'm posting one more frosty photo from our drive in Oregon last week.  It's a good dichotomy; so delicate and so tough at the same time.  Plus one of the prettiest winter blues I've captured in the sky color.

Sweet Gum and Frost

I'm home!!!  Today was our longest day of driving, starting in Eugene with a beautiful blanket of frost.  It was the first day I had time to play around with my camera (which made the drive even longer, but was oh so fun!)  Funny that I saved a Sweet Gum photo to post yesterday, and happened upon this one today.  We got off I-5 for a while and drove down the old highway, US-99.  That's the only way to really see things.  It was a beautiful drive the whole way, but I'm so glad to be home.

Frosty Morning

The overnight lows were in the 20s around the Hope Valley area this Friday, and it felt as cold as it looks!  Everything on this side of the river was covered in frost.  Such a change from a few weeks ago!
