Beachcombing

I did my share of beach combing at the Sleeping Bear Maritime Museum beach in Glen Haven, Michigan, along with the other beach-goers pictured here.  It was a perfect late August day for strolling along the shore.  I had a hard time staying away from this snow fence though.  It was so graphically colorful, and an unexpected part of the summer scene here.  The marram grass restoration is visible in the foreground, and in the background you can see one of the Manitou Islands (the baby bears that the sleeping bear is waiting for, if you know the legend.)
